How to watch FOX without cable

By Manikandan Kannan Published

Sunday NFL games, the World Series and your local FOX newscast all air free over the air. Since August 2025, FOX has also sold its own streaming service, FOX One. This guide covers both, along with free FOX streams and what to do when FOX won't come in. It's about the FOX network and your local FOX station, not Fox News, which is a separate cable channel.

Last checked: November 2, 2026. Prices are regular monthly prices, rounded, before taxes and fees. Local FOX availability depends on your ZIP code.

The short answer

Free: an antenna picks up your local FOX station live, including NFL games. Our local channels guide covers antenna setup.

Streaming live FOX: FOX One costs about $20 a month and includes FOX live. Check that your local station is covered before you subscribe.

Free local news: the FOX LOCAL app streams newscasts from FOX-owned stations in 17 cities, with no login.

FOX or Fox News?

Many search results mix these up, so first check which one you want:

FOX Fox News
What it is Broadcast network, carried by your local FOX station 24-hour cable news channel
Free with an antenna? Yes No
What's on NFL, MLB, local news, prime-time shows National news and talk
Streams on FOX One, live TV services FOX One, live TV services

The rest of this guide is about FOX, the network.

Which option fits you

What you want Best move
Live FOX for free, and a station is in range An antenna (one-time cost)
Live FOX streamed, plus Fox News and FS1 FOX One, about $20 a month
Your FOX station's local news, free FOX LOCAL app (17 cities)
FOX plus ESPN and other cable channels YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo or DIRECTV

FOX One

FOX One launched on August 21, 2025. Its plans:

Plan Price
FOX One About $20 a month
FOX One + FOX Nation About $25 a month
FOX One + ESPN About $40 a month

Besides FOX, it includes Fox News, Fox Business, Fox Weather, FS1, FS2 and the Big Ten Network.

Check your station first. Fox Corporation owns 29 stations, mostly in big markets. In many other cities, the FOX station belongs to another company, and we could not verify a complete, current list of the local stations FOX One carries. Use the 3-day free trial to confirm your station appears before you pay.

Watch FOX free with an antenna

Your local FOX station broadcasts free: NFL games, the World Series, local news and prime-time shows. With an antenna and a channel scan, you get them live.

Our local channels guide covers antennas. For FOX, look up your station on the FCC's DTV Reception Maps to see where its tower is and whether it uses VHF (RF channel 13 or lower).

When FOX is the one channel missing

  1. Find FOX's channel number on the map. FOX has no single channel number; it differs from city to city.
  2. Aim toward FOX's tower, which may be in a different direction from the others.
  3. Move the antenna up or toward a window facing that tower.
  4. Rescan from scratch if FOX was there before and disappeared.

Stream FOX live with a live TV service

These services carry local FOX stations in most markets. Check your ZIP code first.

Service Plan Regular price Notes
YouTube TV Main plan About $83 a month Smaller plans with locals start around $55
DIRECTV MyNews genre pack About $45 a month Locals where available
Fubo Pro, Elite, Sports + News About $89, $99 and $65 Plus a regional sports fee in many areas
Hulu + Live TV With ads About $100 a month Includes Disney+ and ESPN
Sling Blue or Select Varies; local channels cost extra where offered FOX only in select markets; check your ZIP for the total

Why the NFL game you want isn't on

FOX shows the Sunday-afternoon NFL games assigned to your region, plus any national games it airs. Out-of-market Sunday-afternoon regular-season games aren't on your local FOX station by antenna, FOX One or a live TV service; NFL Sunday Ticket covers those. Sunday Ticket doesn't include college games, national broadcasts or the postseason.

Free FOX streams

  • FOX LOCAL streams news from FOX-owned stations free, with "no login" and "no subscription." It covers 17 cities, so it won't have a station that FOX doesn't own.
  • FOX Sports on Tubi is a free channel with highlights, studio shows and some live events. It isn't your local FOX station.
  • FOX.com and the FOX app stream live FOX after you sign in, either with a FOX One subscription or with a TV provider that includes FOX.

When FOX drops off a service

FOX's deal with YouTube TV ran up against an August 27, 2025 deadline. After a short extension, the two signed a new agreement on August 28, so FOX never went dark. That's how most disputes end, but not all: in 2026, DIRECTV lost 54 Scripps-owned stations, including FOX affiliates, for about six weeks.

An antenna isn't affected by any of this.

Common questions

Is FOX free?

Yes, over the air. An antenna gets your local FOX station at no monthly cost.

Does FOX One include my local FOX station?

It includes FOX live, but we could not verify a complete list of the local stations it carries. Use the free trial to check yours.

Can I watch Fox News with an antenna?

No. Fox News is a cable channel. You need FOX One or a live TV service.

Why does the FOX app ask me to sign in?

Live FOX in the FOX app and on FOX.com needs a sign-in: either a FOX One subscription or a TV provider login. Without either, use an antenna.

Can I watch FOX on Roku, Fire TV or a smart TV?

Yes. Use the FOX One app or a live TV service's app. With an antenna, plug it into the TV's coaxial input (often labelled ANT or Antenna/Cable In), not an HDMI port, and run a channel scan.
