Charter Communications, which operates the Spectrum brand, received FCC approval in February 2026 to acquire Cox in a deal valued at approximately $34.5 billion. As of April 2026, the deal is pending final state-level approval in California. Once the merger closes, the combined company will use the Cox Communications name but retain Spectrum as the consumer-facing brand. Channel lineups in current Cox markets may change after the transition.
